George Schwab was born in 1986 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. At age four he, his father (an architect and educator), and mother (a graphic designer), moved from Kensington – now a thriving arts community in Philadelphia – to Jenkintown, just outside the city limits. George’s mentor and grandfather William Daley – a widely exhibited and recognized ceramic artist and educator – can be credited for George’s early and ongoing creative development. Following in his family’s footsteps George attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where his grandfather taught for over forty years and where his mother and aunt attended college. He earned his BFA with honors from UArts in 2008 and in 2010 relocated to Baltimore, Maryland – along with his partner Amanda Williams and dog Boz – to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art. In 2011 George earned his Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Fine Arts from MICA and currently is a resident artist at BrickHaus Art Space.
